Packers Receiver Faces Uncertain Future Amid Roster Crowding
Green Bay Packers wide receiver Romeo Doubs has recently been the subject of trade speculation, and an AFC contender might be showing the most interest. Doubs is expected to start training camp at the top of the Packers’ depth chart.
However, his status could quickly change if first-round rookie Matthew Golden, known for his blazing 4.29 speed, demonstrates the ability to make a significant impact on Green Bay’s offense early.
With a crowded wide receiver room that now includes Doubs, Jayden Reed, Dontayvion Wicks, Golden, and fellow rookie Savion Williams, Doubs could become expendable. This makes him a logical trade target for teams in need of wide receiver help before the 2025 NFL season begins.
Steelers Emerge as Potential Trade Destination
The Pittsburgh Steelers, who recently traded George Pickens to the Dallas Cowboys in a high-profile deal, are reportedly in the market for a dynamic receiver to pair with DK Metcalf. In this context, Doubs emerges as a compelling option.
Bleacher Report NFL analyst Marcus Davenport sees the Steelers as a fitting destination in what could become a competitive market for Doubs. “There are no shortage of teams with passing-game deficiencies (looking at you, Pittsburgh),” Davenport writes for B/R. “So if the Packers really do decide to shop Doubs, finding a trade partner shouldn’t be especially difficult.”
Doubs Offers Proven Production
Through his first three NFL seasons, Doubs has recorded 147 receptions for 1,700 yards and 15 touchdowns. His proven skill set could enhance any offense, particularly one looking to stretch the field. Should the Steelers pursue him, Doubs would be an ideal complement to Metcalf in Pittsburgh’s evolving passing attack.
