A Throwback Uniform
The Green Bay Packers have joined a growing list of NFL teams rolling out new uniforms for the 2025 season. On Thursday, the franchise revealed its “1923 Classic” throwback uniform, a tribute to one of the most pivotal years in team history.
The design takes inspiration from the roaring 1920s, featuring navy jerseys with dark gold numbers and stripes, tan pants, and navy socks. The centerpiece of the look is a hand-painted helmet designed to replicate the appearance of old-school leather headgear.
Remembering A Historic Season
The 1923 season was a turning point for the Packers organization. It followed Green Bay’s first-ever stock sale, a groundbreaking initiative that made the team publicly owned. The influx of funding allowed the club to issue matching navy jerseys for the first time, moving beyond the era of players supplying their own equipment.
The new uniform honors that moment, both in history and style. According to the team, the helmet is the first in NFL history to feature a hand-painted finish meant to resemble vintage leather. It includes realistic distressing and hand-applied detailing such as leather strap and stitching effects. A navy face mask completes the classic aesthetic.
Game-Day Details Still To Come
While the uniforms have been revealed, the Packers have not yet announced when they’ll wear the 1923 Classic jerseys during the 2025 season. Fans will be eagerly awaiting the schedule release to see when this historic look will make its on-field debut.
