Allen Lazard restructures his contract with the New York Jets.

For several days, and even weeks, the future of receiver Allen Lazard with the New York Jets was uncertain. Earlier in the 2025 offseason, Jets management granted the former Green Bay Packers receiver permission to seek a trade with another team. However, it appears that no satisfactory agreement was reached with any franchise.

In light of the lack of trades, the New York Jets reconsidered their approach to Allen Lazard. Early last week, Jets General Manager Darren Mougey announced during the annual NFL owners’ meeting that they would be working with the receiver to restructure his contract.

By Thursday, an agreement had been reached for this restructuring, as reported by Adam Schefter. This new contract marks a significant change for Lazard, who previously was slated to earn $11 million in 2025.

In the newly restructured deal, Allen Lazard accepted a substantial salary reduction. The wide receiver has foregone millions from his annual salary for the next season, reducing his base salary from $11 million to just $1.75 million, fully guaranteed. Additionally, he has also opted out of the final year of his contract, which means Lazard will become a free agent at the end of the 2025 season.

This restructuring was crucial for Allen Lazard to maintain his position within the New York Jets organization. By making these adjustments to his contract, he demonstrates his commitment to the team and hopes to further contribute to their success in the upcoming seasons.

The decision to restructure Allen Lazard’s contract highlights the dynamic nature of NFL contracts and player-team relationships. As the Jets look toward the future, Lazard’s willingness to make sacrifices showcases his loyalty and determination to perform at a high level.
