Aaron Rodgers is still undecided about his future in the NFL and whether he’ll return for the 2025 season. In a recent appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the quarterback opened up about his current state of mind, providing some clarity about his situation while making it clear he’s dealing with personal challenges.
Rodgers hasn’t signed with any team yet, despite a wave of rumors linking him to various franchises. During the interview, he explained that he’s currently focused on issues within his personal life, something he has been transparent about in his conversations with teams.
“Retirement is still a possibility, but for now, I’m focusing on my personal life. That’s what I’ve told the coaches,” he said.
One of the more persistent rumors suggested Rodgers was holding out to potentially join the Minnesota Vikings, but he dismissed that outright, calling it false. While he denies most of the speculation swirling around him, he did admit to reaching out to multiple teams and offering to play for just $10 million a year, a figure significantly below the market rate for a quarterback of his experience.
Despite this willingness to compromise financially, things haven’t moved forward. Rodgers hasn’t ruled out joining the Pittsburgh Steelers, or any team willing to give him a shot. The only clear exception, he noted with a hint of finality, is the New York Jets.
When McAfee pressed him about a possible move to Pittsburgh, Rodgers didn’t give a straight answer but made it clear he isn’t trying to play games with any team’s plans.
“I’m not holding anyone hostage, I want to make that clear. I’ve been honest from the beginning. I don’t want to disrespect any player on the team, whether a veteran or a young guy. I’m just going through a tough time in my personal life, and that has to take priority. This is a serious commitment, and it has to be all-in.”
At this stage in his career, Rodgers’ options appear limited. The decision is his to make.
