A New Mission in Las Vegas
Despite retiring from the field, Brady isn’t stepping away from the pursuit of success. Now a minority owner of the Las Vegas Raiders, he’s entering his first full offseason in that role with a clear message: the push for wins has already begun.
“Our goal is to, you know, win a lot of football games,” Brady said, via the Raiders’ team website’s Paul Gutierrez. “You’ve got to work hard at it, and it’s all earned, and we’ve got a tough division. There’s a lot of good opponents we face. But it’s going to be up to the guys and their daily commitment to doing the right things.”
Ownership Role and Team Overhaul
In October 2024, NFL owners approved Brady’s status as a limited partner with the Raiders. Though he has been hailed as the most accomplished quarterback in league history, Brady has played down his direct influence on shaping the team’s future. “I’m there as a great sounding board for anything they want to do,” he said.
As Brady eases into his new role, the organization has undergone major changes. Pete Carroll now leads the team as head coach, with John Spytek taking over as general manager. These appointments followed a disappointing 4-13 finish to the 2024 season.
The franchise has also introduced a new quarterback, Geno Smith and welcomed rookie running back Ashton Jeanty, the No. 6 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Together, they aim to revitalize a team that hasn’t reached the playoffs since 2021, and has only five postseason appearances since the year 2000.
Historical Perspective and Tom Brady’s Impact
Brady’s playing career spanned from 2000 to 2022. During that time, he amassed seven Super Bowl victories, while the Raiders made just one appearance. Losing to Brady’s Patriots in the infamous “Tuck Rule Game” during the 2001 Divisional Round. The team’s last Super Bowl title came 41 seasons ago.
As for how much impact Brady will have on reversing the franchise’s fortunes, he remains modest. “Well, I’m just a limited partner, so (principal owner) Mark (Davis)’s the boss,” Brady said. “And then Pete does his job and Spy does his job and, I think, we trust them to make the right decisions.”
“They’ve worked together very well, and there’s a lot of decisions that are made. Winning games in September starts with what happens in February, March and April, when no one’s really watching. They’ve been hard at work.”
Early changes have sparked renewed energy among fans, but Brady is well aware that real success is measured on the field. Still, he believes the Raiders are laying the groundwork for a brighter future.
