CeeDee Lamb on George Pickens Duo: “We Both Ones”

Dallas Addresses WR2 Void with Pickens Acquisition

After several seasons of cycling through ineffective options, the Dallas Cowboys have finally landed a complement to CeeDee Lamb by acquiring wide receiver George Pickens. With Brandin Cooks departing in free agency, Lamb was left as the lone standout in the receiving corps, until now.

Pickens, a player known for both his talent and volatility, steps into a key role in Dallas’ offense. His arrival gives the Cowboys a new weapon on the perimeter and potentially answers long-standing questions at the WR2 spot.

Building Chemistry On and Off the Field

Any concerns about whether Lamb and Pickens could coexist were quieted this past weekend when the two participated together in Kyler Murray’s charity softball game in Scottsdale, Arizona. Their on-field camaraderie suggests early signs of mutual respect and partnership.

“We both ones,” Lamb said as Pickens nodded in agreement, via DLLS Cowboys. “It ain’t no A, B, none of that. It’s one. You look over there, you see one. You look over here, you see another one. So do what you gotta do with that.”

A True Test for Pickens’ Consistency

Lamb has largely carried the Cowboys’ receiving duties in recent years. Since his second NFL season in 2021, when he shared targets with Amari Cooper, no other Dallas receiver has reached even 660 receiving yards or come within 52 receptions of Lamb.

Pickens offers the potential to change that narrative. His skillset, especially his ability to win on the outside, presents defenses with a dilemma: commit coverage to stopping the deep threat and allow Lamb to exploit openings, or focus on Lamb and risk Pickens making big plays.

Still, the ultimate success of the partnership may hinge on Pickens’ consistency, a trait he struggled with during his time in Pittsburgh.

    High Hopes, Low Risk

Lamb has expressed confidence in his new teammate and the impact Pickens can have in diversifying Dallas’ offensive attack. For a unit that has leaned heavily on Lamb, the addition of another legitimate threat could be transformative.

Should things not work out, the Cowboys haven’t taken on an unmanageable risk. But if the chemistry between Lamb and Pickens translates to the field, Dallas could be looking at one of the NFL’s most explosive receiver tandems in 2025.

I've been hooked on football since I first picked up a ball as a kid. After years of coaching and living the highs and lows of the game, I turned my passion into writing. Now I cover the NFL with the same love and energy I had on the field.
